The Centralia Downtown Association and Centralia's Historic Preservation Commission present two combined National Heritage Month events, to be held on May 12th!. The events will begin with a large scale quilt show, which will attract quilters and quilt clubs from the entire Pacific Northwest. Then, at 8pm, world renowned jazz vocalist; Greta Matassa and her trio will perform on the Historic Fox Theatre stage! Opening the evening, our own local big band; "The Sound of Swing!"
The best part of this story; Proceeds from this combined effort will go toward erecting the restored marquee at our Historic Fox Theatre!

‘Rhythm on My Heels’: A Tribute to Josef Škvoreck
This tribute to the inspiring work of Josef Škvorecký includes a screening of Rhythm on My Heels, a feature film based on his book The Tenor Saxophonist’s Story. Shot entirely in Prague, the film has wowed critics and screened at international film festivals, and features music by internationally acclaimed Czech jazz pianist and composer
Emil Vicklicky. After the screening, from 8:15pm- 8:45pm, Rhythm on My Heels actors, accompanied by Viklicky's Trio, perform songs from the film. Presented by the Center for Czech Education and Culture.
